AI USE POLICY
The journal fully adheres to the “Recommendations on the Use of AI in Scholarly Communication” developed by the EASE (European Association of Scientific Editors). We view the use of artificial intelligence as a convenient and effective tool in the hands of a scientist. Using any tool, the results obtained should be carefully checked and interpreted with knowledge of the matter. Since the peculiarity of AI is the generative function (creating text, processing data and producing reports, etc.), this tool can be used dishonestly in the preparation of scientific articles. Therefore, the policy on the use of AI is closely related to the issue of academic integrity. The editors count on each author to voluntarily declare the use of AI in the preparation of materials for our journal. When submitting a manuscript, we require that the Author’s Declaration on the Use of AI be uploaded as a separate file, in which the author declares how and for what purpose this tool was used in the preparation of the article (see example):
Declaration on Generative Artificial Intelligence and Technologies Using Artificial Intelligence in the Writing Process.
During the preparation of this article, the authors used ChatGPT4.0 to search for scientific sources. After using this tool, the authors checked and analyzed the proposed sources. The AI Assistant tool integrated into Adobe Acrobat Online was also used to analyze the content of the sources. The authors of the article are fully responsible for the correct use and citation of sources.
The following file content is permissible: Artificial intelligence was not used in the preparation of this article.
If the author used AI to edit the text, it is not necessary to note this, since the editors are not interested in the automated editing tools themselves, but in the result - the compliance of the text with language and spelling norms, which they pay attention to, regardless of how this text was prepared.
The second requirement is to indicate in the Method section of the article the method of using AI. The use of AI as a methodological technique with reservations is possible in the following cases according to the “Recommendations on the Use of AI in Scholarly Communication”:
• Citation and literature review. We strongly recommend not to use AI results as a primary source to confirm specific statements, since. citations and information provided by AI may be inaccurate or fabricated.
• Data collection, cleaning, analysis and interpretation. We strongly recommend disclosing any use of artificial intelligence to collect, clean, analyze or interpret data. These statements should ideally be accompanied by appropriate indicators of robustness and reliability, as well as steps to ensure their reproducibility.
• Data or code generation. We strongly recommend disclosing any use of artificial intelligence to generate data or code. Editors should be aware that generated data or code can be a great resource for educational purposes, but can also be used to create fake data for hypothesis testing or other analyses.
• Visualization – creating tables, figures, images, videos, or other outputs. We strongly recommend disclosing any use of AI for visualization. Visualizations created using AI may require additional checks to ensure their reliability, as well as steps to ensure their reproducibility.
For reviewers’ use of AI, see here.
On the use of artificial intelligence
We do not recommend using AI to perform the review process. However, the editorial office cannot guarantee that reviewers will not use AI, but we ask reviewers to be as honest as possible and to inform the editors in what way and with what results the reviewer used AI.
We strongly encourage our editors to disclose any use they make of AI, including the use of any screening tools that detect whether (parts of) manuscripts or review reports have been created or edited by AI.
